Environments

Overview

Cactus Custody offers two distinct environments: Test Environment and Production Environment. Both environments use the same set of APIs to interact with digital assets, but the test environment allows you to transact using testnet coins.

These environments are completely separate—there is no syncing of accounts or data between them. You will need to create separate accounts and configure your applications independently for each environment.

This environment connects to the testnet networks of the coins we support. You can find the full list of supported testnet coins here.

What are Testnet Coins?

Testnet coins are digital tokens designed specifically for development and testing purposes. They have no real monetary value and are typically distributed for free via "faucets." For example, major blockchains such as Bitcoin and Ethereum provide testnet environments—like Sepolia for Ethereum—allowing developers to safely build and test applications without using real funds.

[!warning|style:flat] Do Not Transfer Real Tokens

Under no circumstances should you transfer real tokens into the test environment.

Any real tokens sent here will be irrecoverable and result in permanent loss.
